What is GPG?
Guerrilla Photo Group is an inclusive, synergistic, free creative collaborative which is designed to serve photographers, models, makeup/hair artists, and designers.
We host regular in-person meetings, and all skill levels are welcome. We’re privileged to have a very wide spread of technical skills, artistic acumens, and interest levels. We’ve got working industry pros hanging out with folks who just got their first cameras. We’ve got models who have walked for Victoria’s Secret or been featured in national print helping direct nervous newbies for their first time on set… and everywhere in between. We think both sides of mentorship are tremendously rewarding. Everyone has something to teach and something to learn!
At our core, we value art, camaraderie, and growth. Our programming is intended to create opportunities for artists along these lines.
Who’s involved?
The group was founded in 2006 by Albuquerque-based commercial photographer, Rip Williams. Since then, it has grown and evolved into a community maintained by the tireless efforts of volunteers, participants, and leadership. Today, GPG maintains a volunteer Advisory Board whose function is to facilitate the overall activities of the group, act as community stewards, foster the manifestation of our mission/vision, and serve as champions of the best interests of our attendees.
Inclusivity Statement
GPG welcomes humans of all skill levels, economic/social backgrounds, nationalities, sexualities, gender variations, body shapes, physical abilities, creeds, faith communities (or absence thereof,) and political leanings. We value dialog, intellectual exploration of concepts that are new/foreign to individuals, and heartfelt communications… especially as processed through interpersonal interaction, and via the artistic process.
While GPG isn’t a “safe space,” where certain ideas aren’t allowed to be shared, we are entirely intolerant of poor behavior like incivility, overt rudeness, and judgement. We have a zero tolerance for violence, or the threat of it. This policy is equally applied across all spectrums of attendees. Read more about guidelines and community expectations in the FAQ section.
